National Constitutionalism is a flagship program of the African Institute for Young People, dedicated to promoting constitutional awareness, human rights, and the rule of law across Africa. The initiative empowers youth to understand, defend, and advocate for their constitutional rights, fostering a culture of legal literacy, civic responsibility, and democratic accountability.
Through mentorship, workshops, and advocacy campaigns, participants are equipped with the knowledge and skills to engage in legal and political processes, monitor government actions, and hold leaders accountable. The program emphasizes the protection of human rights, the promotion of equality and inclusivity, and the enforcement of the rule of law as fundamental pillars of democratic societies.
National Constitutionalism prioritizes youth engagement and inclusivity, encouraging women, marginalized communities, and persons with disabilities to participate in constitutional education and governance initiatives. By raising awareness about rights, responsibilities, and legal frameworks, the program cultivates informed, responsible, and active citizens.
Guided by Pan-Africanism, Ujamaa principles, and African intellectual traditions, the African Institute for Young People leverages National Constitutionalism to nurture a generation of youth leaders committed to upholding justice, strengthening democratic institutions, and building a self-determined, equitable, and rights-respecting Africa.
The African Institute For Young People (AIYP) is a youth-led movement demanding change across Africa. We fight for democracy, social and economic justice, climate action, and reparations, equipping young people to dismantle exclusion and shape the continent’s future—now.
