Flagship Programs

The African Institute for Young People runs flagship programs that empower youth to lead Africa’s transformation. Our initiatives combine mentorship, civic engagement, innovation, and leadership development to foster active participation in governance, economic growth, and climate action. We prioritize inclusivity, equality, and solidarity, ensuring women, marginalized groups, and persons with disabilities are fully represented. Through these programs, we cultivate visionary, resilient, and Pan-African youth leaders committed to building a united, self-determined, and prosperous Africa.

Project Vote 263

Project Vote 263 is the African Institute for Young People’s flagship program dedicated to promoting youth participation in electoral processes across Africa. The initiative empowers young people to actively engage in voter registration drives, serve as election agents and observers, and lead voter education campaigns, ensuring that elections are inclusive, transparent, and democratic.

Youth Constitutional Empowerment Program (YCEP)

National Constitutionalism is a flagship program of the African Institute for Young People, dedicated to promoting constitutional awareness, human rights, and the rule of law across Africa. The initiative empowers youth to understand, defend, and advocate for their constitutional rights, fostering a culture of legal literacy, civic responsibility, and democratic accountability.

School of Governance and Center for Democracy

The School of Governance and Center for Democracy is the flagship political academy of the African Institute for Young People, established to mentor and train youth who aspire to hold public office and take active roles in governance. The academy equips young Africans with the knowledge, skills, and strategic insights required to navigate political systems, lead with vision, and serve their communities with integrity.

Sandra Sefhako School of Feminism

The Sandra Sefhako School of Feminism is a flagship program of the African Institute for Young People, dedicated to mentoring and training young African women to lead in areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), human rights, climate justice, and political and economic participation. The program empowers women to overcome patriarchy, engage meaningfully in decision-making, and build solidarity across communities and nations.

Youth Regional Exchange Program

The Youth Regional Exchange Program is a flagship initiative of the African Institute for Young People (AIYP), designed to unite young leaders across Africa through solidarity, collaboration, and the cross-pollination of ideas. Recognizing that Africa’s challenges—ranging from governance and social inequality to climate change and youth unemployment—transcend national borders, the program creates a platform where young people can learn from one another, build lasting networks, and co-create solutions that strengthen communities and the continent. It is particularly focused on finding African-led solutions to African problems, ensuring that strategies are locally relevant, context-driven, and domesticated to the continent’s unique realities.
