At the African Institute for Young People, the values of Ubuntu, feminism, and solidarity form the ethical and social foundation of our work. Ubuntu, the African philosophy of interconnectedness—“I am because we are”—guides our approach to community, cooperation, and shared responsibility. We believe that meaningful change is only possible when individuals act collectively, fostering empathy, mutual support, and inclusive engagement across all levels of society.
Feminism is central to our mission, as we advocate for the rights, leadership, and empowerment of women and girls across Africa. By challenging systemic inequalities and patriarchal structures, we ensure that women have equal opportunities to participate in decision-making, governance, and economic activities. Feminism for us is not just about gender equality—it is about building an inclusive Africa where all voices, particularly those historically marginalized, are amplified and valued.
Solidarity underpins our Pan-African ethos. We encourage collaboration, mutual support, and collective action among youth, communities, and institutions across the continent. By fostering solidarity, we strengthen networks, build resilience, and advance shared goals in social justice, governance, and sustainable development.
Guided by these principles, the African Institute for Young People nurtures a generation of leaders committed to empathy, inclusivity, and collective progress. Ubuntu, feminism, and solidarity together enable young Africans to drive equitable change, bridge divides, and build a united, self-determined, and prosperous Africa.
The African Institute For Young People (AIYP) is a youth-led movement demanding change across Africa. We fight for democracy, social and economic justice, climate action, and reparations, equipping young people to dismantle exclusion and shape the continent’s future—now.
