The African Institute For Young People (AIYP) has a full-time Secretariat led by the Executive Director, which is responsible for designing and implementing programs, engaging partners, and coordinating the Institute’s activities across Africa. The Secretariat serves as the operational arm of AIYP, translating the strategic vision of the organization into practical initiatives that empower young people to participate in decision-making, address the challenges of climate change, and pursue economic opportunities.
The Secretariat reports to the Board on progress made, or challenges encountered, in achieving the goals and objectives of the Institute. The Executive Director leads the Secretariat team, ensuring that all staff members work collectively toward the vision of a continent where young people are fully engaged in shaping democratic, social, environmental, and economic development. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for fostering discipline, professionalism, and coherence within the team, while ensuring that programs are delivered effectively and align with AIYP’s mission of advancing youth leadership and agency across Africa.
The African Institute For Young People (AIYP) is a youth-led movement demanding change across Africa. We fight for democracy, social and economic justice, climate action, and reparations, equipping young people to dismantle exclusion and shape the continent’s future—now.
